Introduction to Smart Grids: some helpful information

The IET

The IET has prepared a briefing document that gives helpful insight with a focus on the UK.

IET Energy Policy Panel

The IET Energy Policy Panel provides independent, expert advice on energy policy matters to government on behalf of the IET.  The Panel has an active programme in progress and has produced a significant number of important reports, briefings and submissions. These include a number of documents which provide very helpful introductions to some of the complex issues facing the energy sector today.

Elexon

Elexon – the organisation who manages electricity trading arrangements in England and Wales – has produced an introductory guide on how these arrangements work.

The industry

Earlier this year key organisations in the energy sector – SmartGridGB, Beama, ENA, EnergyUK and Intellect – came together to share ideas about the potential and challenges of smart grids. The seminar addressed the breadth of the issues and opportunities and placed them in the context of the various stakeholders. The speakers’ presentations provide a useful summary and insight.
